Beauty Isn’t Just a Color!
“Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.”
Kahlil Gibran

The word ‘beauty’ has a different meaning for each one of us. Some people try and fit this term in a particular size, age or color. However, the truth is that beauty can not be confined into any of these. Beauty isn’t limited to a specific body type, age bracket or complexion.

The world over, women are told to look a certain way in order to look ‘attractive’ to others, especially to the opposite gender. Women are told time and again to lose their weight, apply skin-whitening products and even anti-ageing products so that they appear beautiful. It is fascinating and surprising to know what is termed beautiful in different cultures all over the world. One of the most important issues that we need to talk about here is that beauty isn’t just a color. This is a debate that has, in the recent times, been given the attention that it needs.

Every skin color - from fair to olive to dark skin – all skin-colors are beautiful. Period.

One should never specify a specific skin color as ‘beautiful’ and others as any less attractive. What we need to realize is that all of us might have been created by God in various skin-colors but he has created our souls as the same. At the end of the day, it is your inner-self that makes you beautiful. The attributes that we need to work on in order to be ‘beautiful’ are kindness and compassion. In addition to that, all you need to focus upon is your physical health and your mental health in order to achieve true beauty. Once you start focusing on yourself – you will find that all these categories of ‘body types ‘or ‘complexion’ have only been created by the media and the fashion-industry. People who truly love you, don’t care whether you are extremely fair and have your tan on or not. People who care about you, will continue to do so no matter what skin color you have. This is because beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

If you feel like losing some weight – lose it because YOU want to be healthy. If you feel like applying a tanning spray – apply it because YOU want to. If you feel like using filters on your social media apps, use them because YOU want to. Don’t do any of these things in order to please the baseless beauty standards of this world.

You are beautiful. You are desired. You are accepted. Just the way you are.
