My favorite holidays are the ones we can celebrate together regardless of our individual beliefs. Valentine’s Day is one we can all participate in while having the chance to make others feel feel loved and adored. The deep reds, pinks and sparkles associated with this holiday inspires me and I’m all about spreading the joy they create. The world sure needs some extra love this year so it has me thinking ahead for ideas.
When the doors open on February 14th at my local candy shop Tree of Chocolate I’m one of the first in line. “Darn, I say. I wish I had done this sooner!” Soooooo I’ve decided I’m going to be different this year and put more effort earlier not just for everyone else, but for ME too! ❤️
Creating celebrations at home in our daily lives have become vital and will benefit us all for years to come. I want to teach my kids to celebrate the small wins just as much as the big ones. Surprising them with a little treat just because it makes them smile is reason enough to celebrate. A strawberry donut from Boxer Donut always brings a good dose of happiness.
I’ve started to gather my favorite things that are important to me and I encourage you to do the same. It’s a perfect way to start this month long theme of love leading up to February 14th. It’s a way to honor ourselves and to recognize what makes us feel good. I have a beautiful red tray my parents gave me and this will hold my collection of inspirations. Hand cream from Weleda, lingerie from Gena Lisa Lingerie, here in my town of Nyack, NY, who stocks my favorite brands like Fleur't and Triumph plus my favorite jewelry from Dinosaur Design.
Adding more romantic colors to my home is also a goal. By the time Valentine’s Day rolls around I want more bright pinks and cherry reds surrounding me. I have owned Abyss for a decade and they are my absolute favorite towels on earth. While they are on the pricey side they are worth every penny as they are still as great after many washes over the years.
